Light & Shadow

Light & Shadow by Robin Woods

The Story May Be Over. The Questions Aren’t.

Light & Shadow steps back into the world of The Watcher Series with short stories, alternate points of view, character histories, artwork, behind-the-scenes material, and answers to questions readers have been sending me for years.

Some pieces fill in gaps.

Some let another character tell the story.

And some exist because readers asked questions I couldn’t resist answering.

You Asked. I Answered.

Over the years, readers sent me a lot of questions about The Watcher Series.

Some were thoughtful. Some were oddly specific. Some made me realize there was an entire story hiding inside the answer.

Light & Shadow grew partly from those questions, including things readers wanted to know about including questions about Ali’s personality, what Rosemond’s mother said to George, how Gabriel got his scar, and other moments that sparked debate long after the books ended.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward.

Sometimes it requires another point of view.

Sometimes it requires an entire short story.

Joshua in action | The Watcher Series by Robin Woods fight stance

Joshua: The Strigoi

Before Joshua became the vampire Ali knew, there was another story.

Joshua: The Strigoi explores part of that history and reveals more of the choices, losses, and history that shaped him.

It is also available as a free reader gift for mailing-list subscribers.

More Than Short Stories

Light & Shadow also opens up some of the material that grew around the series: character information, timelines, symbols, concept art, poetry, Watcher hierarchy, the French Coven crest, the Slayer tattoo, and other pieces of the world that never belonged neatly inside a novel.

Think of it less as Book Six and more as wandering backstage after the curtain closes. There are things back there.

Spoiler Warning

Best enjoyed after The Fallen Part Two.

Light & Shadow reaches across the entire series, so spoilers are not merely possible. They’ve moved in and made themselves comfortable.

I do mark spoilers within the book, so it can be read alongside the main series.
