The Prompt Me Within Series Is Here: Guided Journals for Safety and Self-Trust

Prompt Me Within Guided Nervous System Journals by Robin Woods

I’m thrilled to announce the release of the first two books in my new Prompt Me Within journal series: Prompt Me: Safety Within and Prompt Me: Trust Within.

For years, I’ve helped writers explore emotion, motivation, fear, desire, conflict, and change to create believable characters. Eventually, I realized those same questions could help us understand the person holding the pen.

  • Why did my body react before I had time to think?
  • What am I feeling beneath the frustration, numbness, or urge to escape?
  • Is this relationship supportive, or am I disappearing inside it?
  • What do I need—and why is it sometimes so difficult to say it?

The Prompt Me Within series grew from those questions. These guided journals combine reflective writing, body awareness, psychology, and trauma-informed principles to help you understand yourself with more curiosity and less shame.

You’re not a problem to be fixed.

You’re a person learning to listen to yourself.

Begin With Safety

Prompt Me: Safety Within is a daily six-month guided nervous system journal for body awareness, emotional resilience, and self-trust.

Your nervous system is always gathering information. It notices danger, uncertainty, connection, support, and change—often before you’ve had time to consciously decide how you feel.

That may look like:

  • A racing heart or tight jaw
  • Irritability or restlessness
  • A blank mind
  • Overplanning
  • People-pleasing
  • Numbness
  • Difficulty resting
  • An urge to fight, flee, hide, or keep everyone happy

These responses aren’t proof that something is wrong with you. They may be ways your mind and body learned to protect you.

Over six months, Safety Within gently guides you through:

  • Finding safety and support
  • Learning the language of your body
  • Recognizing protective patterns
  • Identifying wants and needs
  • Exploring identity
  • Understanding and practicing boundaries

Most entries are designed to take about five to fifteen minutes. They include short reflections, guided journal prompts, body-based check-ins, small acts of care, and weekly and monthly review pages.

You don’t need to know anything about neuroscience. You don’t need to be “good” at journaling. Your answer can be a paragraph, a list, a sentence, a doodle, or one honest word.

Continue Into Trust

Learning to notice yourself is the beginning.

Trust grows through what happens next.

Prompt Me: Trust Within is the second daily six-month guided journal in the series. It carries the awareness developed in Safety Within into relationships, self-compassion, old beliefs, joy, purpose, and growth.

Self-trust doesn’t mean believing that every thought is correct or always knowing what to do. It means learning that you can pause, listen, choose, make mistakes, repair, and adjust.

Over the next six months, you’ll explore:

  • Emotional safety in relationships
  • Connection and reciprocity
  • Conflict, communication, and repair
  • Self-compassion and accountability
  • Old beliefs that may still shape your choices
  • Joy, creativity, purpose, and growth

You may begin to notice which relationships help you feel like yourself, where you give more than you receive, what happens inside you during conflict, and which boundaries support healthier connection.

You’ll also practice taking responsibility without turning shame into a weapon.

  • You can be accountable and kind.
  • You can regret a choice without deciding you’re beyond repair.
  • You can want to grow without hating the person who’s growing.

Together, They Create a Year of Guided Reflection

Safety Within and Trust Within can each be used independently, but together they create a natural year-long progression.

Safety Within begins with noticing:

  • What is happening in my body?
  • What am I feeling?
  • What might this response be trying to protect?
  • What do I want or need?
  • What helps me feel supported?
  • Where might I need a boundary?

Trust Within helps you use that awareness:

  • What helps me remain connected without losing myself?
  • Is care moving in both directions?
  • What belongs to me in this conflict?
  • Which beliefs still shape my choices?
  • How can I respond with honesty and self-compassion?
  • What brings me joy, meaning, and a sense of direction?

You don’t have to complete every entry perfectly. If you miss a day—or several days—you can simply continue when you’re ready.

This isn’t another obligation to fail.

It’s a place to return to yourself.

A Gentle, Trauma-Informed Approach

These journals don’t ask you to force disclosure, relive painful memories, or dig deeper than feels helpful.

You can skip a prompt. Change a question. Write one sentence. Focus on the present. Close the journal when you’ve had enough.

The prompts are here to support you, not boss you around.

Both books also include grounding exercises and practical reference sections you can return to when you need additional language, ideas, or support.

These journals are educational and reflective tools. They aren’t psychotherapy, medical treatment, diagnosis, or crisis care. Sometimes listening to yourself means recognizing when a journal isn’t enough and reaching for additional support.

Which Prompt Me Within Journal Should You Choose?

Choose Safety Within if you want more structure, body awareness, and help understanding stress responses, emotions, protective patterns, needs, identity, and boundaries.

Choose Trust Within if you want to explore relationships, conflict, self-compassion, accountability, old beliefs, joy, meaning, and personal growth.

If both speak to you, begin with Safety Within and continue into Trust Within for a full year of guided reflection.

You don’t need to choose the hardest work first.

Choose the support that fits your life right now.

One Page at a Time

Growth doesn’t always look like a dramatic breakthrough.

  • Sometimes it looks like noticing your shoulders are tense.
  • Pausing before saying yes.
  • Naming an emotion.
  • Letting someone help.
  • Recognizing a familiar pattern.
  • Speaking one honest sentence.

Allowing yourself to enjoy something good without waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Small moments count. Small choices count. A few honest words on the page count.

The Prompt Me Within series is now available on Amazon, and I’m so excited to finally share these first two guided journals with you.
